Gerund : –
Verb के First from में ing लगाने से Gerund का निर्माण होता है तथा हिंदी अर्थ लेने पर क्रिया के अंत में ना, ने, नी देखने को मिलता है ।
Example –
(i) Walking is good for health.
(ii) I like playing cricket.
Gerund तथा Participle का निर्माण एक ही तरह होता है परंतु present participle वाक्य में verb तथा adjective का कार्य करता है जबकि gerund वाक्य में verb तथा noun का कार्य करता है ।

Gerund से सम्बंधित कुछ प्रमुख नियम :-
Rule – 1 Avoid ( बचना ), Prevent ( रोकना ) verb के पश्चात् Gerund का प्रयोग होता है न कि Infinitive का।
Example –
Incorrect – My brother prevented me to play cards.
Correct – My brother prevented me from playing cards.
Rule – 2 यदि Gerund से पहले noun या pronoun का प्रयोग हो तो वह प्राय : Possessive Case में होता है ।
Example –
Incorrect – It is no use you saying so.
Correct – It is no use your saying so.
Incorrect – I don’t like my friend talking so much.
Correct – I don’t like my friend’s talking so much.
